Physical requirements:

Since this tour is primarily aimed towards interested individuals or small groups, the program and the physical demands can be adjusted to some extent. Generally, you don't need to be an athlete if you want to see an eruption but excellent general physical condition and good hiking capabilities are required, if you wish to be able to approach the eruptive cone which is around 10 miles from the nearest accessible place on a road - unless you are interested in chartering a helicopter that could bring you there quickly, you should be prepared for long hikes. People with asthma or other breathing problems should contact their medical doctor and inform us.
Although temperatures are generally very pleasant on Hawaii all-year through, heat can sometimes be intense when observing fresh lava from black lava fields,- it can become hot. The access to the active lava flows can be both extremely easy as well as very demanding, all depending on the actual situation.
